tel. +359 876 83 64 90 or at Our consultant will provide detailed information regarding the technology and how to evaluate the repairs. The final price quotation is obtained after a preliminary inspection by our team, depending on the volume and nature of the holes for repair.

The materials we use are always of high quality, offering a variety of cold asphalt depending on the needs of our customers. You can buy cold asphalt in different varieties from our online store. We offer Bulgarian asphalt in buckets, Italian sack asphalt and loose cold asphalt.

Cold? Asphalt?
Yes. Cold asphalt is a new technology in the production of asphalt mixtures. This type of road construction material does not need heating to dissolve the bitumen binder. Chemical additives are used in cold asphalt, which eliminates the need for high temperatures to achieve optimum sealing and functionality of the asphalt pavement.

Cold asphalt is suitable for repairs from the ongoing maintenance of the road surface. It is not suitable for the overall construction of road structures and their lower layers – the base layer and the bottom layer of the coating (binder layer). Its composition is designed to provide high watertightness of the pavement, as well as to achieve good roughness and bearing capacity of the newly renovated section. The main components of cold asphalt are:

  • mineral additives – rock fragments with defined pre-engineered granularity. The size of the pebbles is selected according to the requirements for standard types of asphalt mixtures and the properties they must possess.
  • bituminous binder – a mandatory component for any resilient road surface. The cold asphalt nature requires a higher content of bitumen – between 5 and 8 percent of the amount of mineral additives. Bitumen in cold asphalt ensures its monolithic behavior (the integrity of the asphalt layer) as well as the hydrophobicity of the asphalt pavement.
  • water – this is one of the main differences between cold and hot asphalt. The production and application of hot asphalt clearly excludes the water content of the mixture as it breaks the structural connections in the asphalt layer.
  • chemical additives – thanks to chemical additives, cold asphalt has the properties of hot, without the need for injection to a temperature of 140 degrees for optimum compaction.

Chemical additives allow the formation of solid connections between the components of cold asphalt to provide a solid and durable road surface.

Cold asphalt laying technology

Cold asphalt can be laid by anyone as it is not capricious in terms of atmospheric and temperature conditions. All you have to do is follow a few simple steps to achieve the best result. Of course, professional intervention is never superfluous and experience and the right approach lead to significantly longer lasting and quality results.

Step 1: Clean the area to be repaired. Try to remove all loose pebbles and sand. Remove all sand and humus particles from the hole. If possible, rub a small portion of the old pavement along the periphery of the pebble hole that could potentially be destroyed. If there is water in the hole, remove as much of it as possible.

Step 2: Distribute the cold asphalt mixture into the hole to be filled. For better results, it is recommended to perform the repair of layers of 2-3 centimeters, since the compaction is done by manual ramming (for comparison, the hot asphalt mixture is performed on layers of approximately 4 cm with a mechanized rammer). Each layer of the asphalt repair mix should be approximately the same thickness to avoid internal roughness in the new pavement. When distributing cold asphalt mixture for the finishing layer of the repair, it is necessary to put a larger amount of student asphalt to form a “cap” on the hole, as it will reduce its volume to the level of the old road surface when sealed.

Step 3: Compact with a manual rammer. You do not need to use expensive and heavy construction machinery to perform cold asphalt repairs! All you have to do is use a smooth and comfortable enough tool to seal the mixture. It is not necessary to achieve a high degree of compaction as the traffic itself is additionally rammed by the asphalt mixture. For sealing, you can use a variety of hand tools, the ramming is done with ramming movements.

Step 4: Clean the surface of the repaired hole. It is necessary to remove residual and poorly compacted cold asphalt. You can use a simple brush or broom to do this. After cleaning the newly renovated area, it is ready for use.
